The Internal Family Systems Workbook

I'm so excited about this Internal Family Systems workbook written by the founder of IFS Therapy, Richard Schwartz. I wish I had had access to this workbook when I was first experiencing Internal Family Systems (IFS) as a client and when I was learning about IFS Therapy as a Counsellor. The thing i like most is the checklists and sudio recordings

The Importance of Ritual: Truth Mandala

This month in our Deep Parts Wisdom circle online we dived into what we keep in the shadows, our exiled emotions ....(if our other protective parts let us!)    We explored some of our exiled emotions by creating a Truth Mandala, (one of Joanna Macy's important grief rituals in the Work that Reconnects / Deep Ecology)… Continue reading The Importance of Ritual: Truth Mandala

Returning to my Soul Home: Nipaluna / Hobart

I first arrived in Hobart in 1996 in October to volunteer at the Wilderness Society for a few weeks, and it snowed in November!, which my warm Kimberley WA blood did not cope with! I was fascinated to meet a tribe of like-minded people at the coldest beach party I had ever experienced and I… Continue reading Returning to my Soul Home: Nipaluna / Hobart

Lived Experience and My Favourite Daily Practices

I am very open with my clients, friends and family about my lived experience and recovery from, more recently, empty nest grief, menopause, recovery from concussion, and 25 years ago or more from postnatal depression and anxiety. But only today have I realised that I haven't shared it here! So here is the abbreviated version!… Continue reading Lived Experience and My Favourite Daily Practices

A part of me feels sad and yet a part of me feels relief…What is IFS talking about when we talk of parts?

Have you ever felt really calm and zen after an early morning swim, walk or meditation yet a family member says or does that one thing and you feel overtaken with irritation/rage/worry/fear or despair as if you were a completely different person than who you were 5 minutes ago? I have, daily!! Read more to understand how Internal Family Systems describes this process that we all experience.

Why are Mindfulness & Self-Compassion so key to well-being?

The two wings of mindfulness and kindness will begin to open our heart to more connection with the world." Tara Brach There is a well known story in mindfulness circles that when the Dalai Lama met with meditation practitioners and neuroscientists to research mindfulness he could not understand the Westerner experience of self hatred. Once… Continue reading Why are Mindfulness & Self-Compassion so key to well-being?
